Azqa Haroon got the chance to experience Park Chinois Doha, and this visit turned out to be a genuine surprise, in the best possible way.

As someone who is particularly selective about Chinese cuisine, it takes a lot to impress me, but Park Chinois managed to do just that. Known as one of London’s most celebrated Chinese restaurants, its arrival in Doha at Maha Island instantly raised expectations and thankfully, it delivers.

Shanghai glamour meets Doha elegance

From the moment you step inside, Park Chinois sets the tone. The interiors channel old-world Shanghai glamour with bold colours, dramatic lighting, and an atmosphere that feels effortlessly luxurious. It’s the kind of place where every meal feels like an occasion, whether it’s a long lunch or a celebratory dinner. Salon de Chine offers a more intimate setting, while Jardin Chinois brings a stylish terrace experience that’s perfect for relaxed evenings.

A menu designed to impress and share

The menu hits all the right notes, focusing on beautifully crafted dishes made for sharing. We started with appetisers that immediately stood out; salted and spicy edamame, crispy king prawns with spiced almonds, and wasabi prawns, each delivering bold flavours and satisfying textures. Everything felt indulgent yet balanced, setting a strong foundation for what followed.

Dim sum, raw plates and signature dishes

The handcrafted dim sum was a highlight, particularly the chef’s selection and the crispy duck roll, both showcasing finesse and depth of flavour. For something lighter, the yellowtail “Jasmine Breeze” carpaccio was delicate, refreshing, and elegantly presented. The star of the table, however, was the Duck de Chine—roasted to order and served with pancakes, baby cucumber, spring onion, and duck sauce. Rich, flavour-packed, and made for sharing, it’s the kind of dish you keep thinking about long after the meal.

Comfort classics done right

The mains continued to impress with a refined take on familiar favourites. The wok-fried Australian Wagyu beef was indulgent and tender, while the sweet and sour chicken delivered comfort with a polished twist. Stir-fried noodles and vegetable fried rice rounded out the experience perfectly, bringing warmth and familiarity without ever feeling ordinary.
Park Chinois Doha is one of those restaurants that never goes out of style. From the glamorous setting to the thoughtfully executed menu, it offers an experience that feels special every single time. If you’re picky about your Chinese food, this is absolutely worth the visit. A true London icon has arrived in Doha, and it feels right at home.
