Nissan Formula E Team is bringing a taste of Japan’s iconic 1990s car culture to the Tokyo E-Prix with The NISMO Pit, a one-night pop-up celebrating Nissan’s motorsport heritage, performance cars and the communities that have shaped Japan’s automotive scene.

A tribute to Japan’s car culture

Inspired by the underground streetcar culture of the 1990s, The NISMO Pit recreates the spirit of the era’s legendary late-night meets, where modified cars, music and a shared passion for performance brought enthusiasts together.
The experience features iconic Nissan performance vehicles from the brand’s Heritage Collection, modified Nissan Road cars and classic diner-inspired food, accompanied by live DJ sets.

NISMO meets Formula E

At the heart of the experience is Nissan’s Formula E GEN3 Evo car, displayed in a one-off NISMO-inspired livery created specifically for the team’s home race weekend.
The design draws from the visual identity of Nissan’s NISMO performance cars, combining grey and black with signature red accents while retaining the Formula E team’s distinctive cherry blossom motif. Fans can get an up-close look at the special livery alongside the wider celebration of Nissan’s performance heritage.

Designed by Kenichi Minami

Adding an artistic dimension to the pop-up, Nissan Formula E Team has teamed up with Tokyo-based designer Kenichi Minami, whose work is known for its nostalgic take on Japanese aesthetics.
Minami’s visual identity for The NISMO Pit takes inspiration from the speed and futuristic character of Formula E, including the red rear lights of the race car and the sense of light stretching across the track. His artwork transforms the space into a visual celebration of Nissan’s influence on Japanese automotive culture.

The NISMO community

More than a traditional fan zone, The NISMO Pit pays tribute to the communities behind Japan’s car culture. Working with Tokyo-based car network NowhereToGo, the event brings together a selection of modified Nissan Road cars that showcase the creativity and individuality of the tuning scene.
The result is a nostalgic meeting point where Nissan’s motorsport heritage meets contemporary Formula E, celebrating the culture, craftsmanship and community that continue to shape the automotive world.
