As Paris Aktypis steps into his role as General Manager of Banyan Tree Doha, a new chapter unfolds at the heart of Doha Oasis. Having been part of the property’s pre-opening journey and growth story, his appointment reflects continuity, trust, and leadership shaped from within.
Qreate got the chance to interview Paris about his vision for the hotel, his leadership philosophy, and what guests and residents can expect in this next phase.
Qreate: What can guests and residents look forward to under your leadership?
Aktypis: Guests and residents can expect consistency, refinement, and measurable service excellence. Our focus is to elevate guest satisfaction scores year-on-year, strengthen loyalty engagement, and enhance experiential offerings across dining and wellness. We aim to drive operational precision while preserving the sanctuary ethos of Banyan Tree, ensuring every stay is defined by seamless service, curated moments, and meaningful connections.
Qreate: How will you shape the next chapter of Banyan Tree Doha?
Aktypis: The next chapter will focus on performance, positioning, and people. We will enhance commercial strategy through data-driven decision-making, optimise distribution channels, and strengthen brand visibility in priority markets. At the same time, we will continue investing in team development to ensure service delivery aligns with Banyan Tree’s global standards. Growth will be structured, sustainable, and experience-led.
Qreate: Why does this role feel like an arrival rather than just a promotion?
Aktypis: Having been part of the pre-opening and operational journey of Banyan Tree Doha, this role represents continuity rather than transition. It reflects a natural progression built on understanding the property’s DNA, its team dynamics, and its market positioning. It is not a new beginning, but the next step in a long-term commitment to shaping its success.
Qreate: What kind of service culture do you hope to further strengthen?
Aktypis: I aim to strengthen a culture rooted in accountability, emotional intelligence, and proactive service. Our goal is to anticipate needs before they are expressed, supported by structured training and measurable performance benchmarks. Service at Banyan Tree Doha must feel intuitive and personal, while remaining operationally disciplined and consistently aligned with brand standards.
Qreate: How does your background in music influence your leadership style?
Aktypis: Music teaches structure, harmony, and timing; principles equally relevant in hospitality. Leadership, like composition, requires coordination, precision, and an understanding of when to lead and when to support. My background reinforces attention to detail, balance, and collaboration, ensuring that every department operates in rhythm toward a shared vision of excellence.
